Travel medicine

If you are travelling overseas, please ask to see our Travel Nurses.  They are trained and have experience in travel medicine to assist with your travel medicine requirements.

Our travel and vaccination advice is specific to you and your destination.  We have access to a specialist web site to providing the latest information and risks about areas around the world and can provide up to date advice on travel risks and travel vaccines for the areas you plan to travel to.

The initial consultation takes about 30 – 45 minutes depending on whether you have seen us previously for travel advice, your health history, your destination and the time you are away.

The administration of the vaccines may require a follow up appointment.

We do not provide the yellow fever vaccination, but we can assist to arrange these for you at Lakes PrimeCare in Tutanekai Street .

Prior to your appointment, please print off and fill in the travel form from the travel tab on this web site and mail, fax or email this to us prior to your appointment. The email is nmcnurses@nmc.org.nz .

You may wish to send your travel itinerary also to enable the nurse to prepare information prior to your visit.

Our Nurses will contact you and discuss an appointment for your travel consult and any related costs.

Ngongotaha Medical Centre have a travel pack that may be helpful when you travel.  The pack includes emergency dressings,  tablets for diarrhoea, water purifying tables etc.

If you wish to purchase one of the travel packs please ask at reception.
